Rahul Koranne, MD, MBA, FACP

Medical Director, Bethesda Hospital

Dr. Rahul KoranneRahul Koranne, MD, MBA, FACP is Medical Director of Bethesda Hospital and oversees and provides strategic direction to all inpatient and outpatient programs. He is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics and was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in April 2006.

Dr. Koranne attended medical school at the University of Delhi in India, where he graduated at the top of the University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the State University of New York in Brooklyn and his fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Koranne earned a master of business administration (MBA) degree at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He was designated a Carlson Scholar in addition to being the recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for ranking highest scholastically in the program.

Dr. Koranne is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Geriatrics Society, American Medical Association, Minnesota Medical Association and American College of Physician Executives.

Program Medical Directors

Brian Amdahl, MD

Medical Director, Respiratory Care Program Brian Amdal, Medical Director

Dr. Amdahl is a board certified internist and pulmonologist and is the medical director of the St. Paul Lung group a team of pulmonary providers who practice in the east metro area. Dr. Amdahl has been providing excellent care to patients at Bethesda Hospital for over 15 years.

As Medical Director of the Respiratory Program, Dr. Amdahl works closely with nursing and RT leadership to raise the bar for quality by working on processes and systems such as care pathways. He also provides in-services to our nursing and RT personnel.

Jawad Bajwa, MD

Medical Director, Capistrant Parkinson's CenterDr. Jawad Bajwa

Dr. Bajwa is the Medical Director for the Capistrant Parkinson's Center. He comes from the Cleveland Clinic where he has been recognized for his leading edge work in the diagnosis and treatment of neurogenerative and movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease, Huntington's disease, Tourette syndrome and dystonia.

A graduate of King Edward Medical College in Pakistan, Dr. Bajwa completed his internship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and his residency at Georgetown University.  His fellowship focused on clinical movement disorders and deep brain stimulation (DBS) and intra-operative mapping of DBS surgeries. His future vision includes developing and implementing initiatives that focus on quality outcomes that form the foundation for earning center of excellence status.

Kenneth R. Britton, DO

Medical Director, Rehabilitation Care

Kenneth Britton, DOKenneth Britton, DO, currently serves as Medical Director of Bethesda's Rehabilitation Care Program. Dr. Britton attended medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his residencies in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota and at the Research Enrichment Program for Psychiatrists at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Britton's interests include the study of age, duration of bedrest and medical problems as factors in the development of orthostatic intolerance of patients following prolonged bedrest. He also is an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program at the University of Minnesota.

Alvin Holm, MD, FACP

Medical Director, Medical Behavioral Care

Dr. Alvin HolmAlvin Holm, MD, is Medical Director of Bethesda's Medical Behavioral Care. He is a board-certified internist/geriatrician and has been named a "Top Doc" by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine. Dr. Holm attended the University of Iowa College of Medicine for Medical School. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota, and participated in a fellowship with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

His research interests include geriatric behavioral psychopharmacology, behavioral management of the demented elderly, mood disorders in the elderly, and the medical psychiatry interface. Dr. Holm is also an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Minnesota.

Muhammed Khan, MD, FACP

Medical Director, Infectious Disease Dr. Muhammed Khan

Dr. Muhammed Khan is Medical Director of Infectious Disease at Bethesda Hospital. Dr. Khan graduated from medical school at Dow Institute of Health Sciences University in Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center. Following that, he completed a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Khan is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and also holds a certification from that organization in infectious disease

Joseph Lee, DO

Medical Director, NephrologyJoseph Lee, DO

Joseph Lee, DO is the Medical Director of Nephrology at Bethesda. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1991 and attended medical school in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Lee entered active duty service in 1997 and then completed his residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

Dr. Lee is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and he is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

John P. Scanlon, MD

Medical Director, Complex Medical Care

Dr. John ScanlonJohn Scanlon, MD, is Medical Director of Complex Medical Care at Bethesda. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School in 1978 and completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1981. Dr. Scanlon is board certified in internal medicine and has a certificate of added qualifications in geriatrics. He was recently named a "Top Doc" by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine.

Dr. Scanlon is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is an active member of the American Geriatric Society and Academy of Hospice Physicians. Aside from his interest in general internal medicine, Dr. Scanlon has broadened his expertise into the areas of geriatrics and hospice care.

Robert Sevenich, MD, JD

Medical Director, Brain Injury Services

Dr. Robert SevenichRobert Sevenich, MD, is Medical Director of Bethesda's Brain Injury Services. He is board certified in psychiatry and has been named a "Top Doc" by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine. Dr. Sevenich is also an attorney-at-law. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.

Dr. Sevenich completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Minnesota, and in family practice at Regions Hospital. His medical interests are in medication management in brain injury, and competency in medical decision-making. Dr. Sevenich also works at St. Joseph's Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry, and for the Board of Law Examiners' Evaluation Panel.
