Bethesda Hospital's Capistrant Parkinson’s Center provides individual evaluation and treatment, support and resources for Parkinson’s patients and their families. Evaluation and treatmentPhysical, occupational and speech therapies are important components of a comprehensive treatment and management program for patients. Our therapists specialize in assessing and treating Parkinson's. Physical therapists work to improve walking, balance and endurance, and design appropriate exercise programs to enhance mobility. Occupational therapists help maximize self-care, independence, work and leisure interests and daily tasks through compensation strategies and adaptive equipment. Speech pathologists improve voice volume, speech clarity and swallowing function. Resource CenterOur Resource Center offers education, support and resources to patients, families and caregivers. Visitors can browse a library of books and videos pertaining to movement disorders, care giving and health; use a computer to access the Internet for information; and pick up free educational materials. Support groupOur Parkinson's support group brings together patients and families to share information and provide support. Click for details. About our teamTerrance D. As a neurologist who diagnosed himself with Parkinson's in the late 1990's Dr. Capistrant has both a physician's and a patient's perspective.
