Patient Responsibilities
Patients have the following responsibilities:
- Supply accurate and complete information about past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to their health.
- Notify the physician or nurse about any change in their condition.
- Participate in their own health care by following instructions and medical advice.
- Ask questions if they do not understand directions and procedures, or if they feel they cannot follow them.
- Cooperate with the hospital staff in observing safety regulations and policies.
- Follow written rules and behavior, which are specific to the area or service on which they are being treated.
- Respect others’ property and that of the hospital.
- Observe the hospital ban on smoking.
- Be considerate of other patients in limiting noise and the number of visitors.
- Be considerate of hospital personnel who are involved in providing their health care.
- Cooperate with arranging for timely payment for services rendered.
