Patient Responsibilities

Patients have the following responsibilities:

1. Supply accurate and complete information about past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to their health.
   
   
2. Notify the physician or nurse about any change in their condition.
   
   
3. Participate in their own health care by following instructions and medical advice.
   
   
4. Ask questions if they do not understand directions and procedures, or if they feel they cannot follow them.
   
   
5. Cooperate with the hospital staff in observing safety regulations and policies.
   
   
6. Follow written rules and behavior, which are specific to the area or service on which they are being treated.
   
   
7. Respect others’ property and that of the hospital.
   
   
8. Observe the hospital ban on smoking.
   
   
9. Be considerate of other patients in limiting noise and the number of visitors.
   
   
10. Be considerate of hospital personnel who are involved in providing their health care.
    
    
11. Cooperate with arranging for timely payment for services rendered.
